Learnership: Measurement Control & Instrumentation
Job Description
This learnership is designed for "bold thinkers" and problem solvers who want to build a career in the technical heart of the mining industry. As an Instrument Mechanician learner, you will be trained to install, maintain, and repair the sophisticated control systems and sensory equipment used to automate mining processes.
Throughout the program, you will undergo structured training that includes both off-the-job (institutional) and workplace-based learning. You will work under the mentorship of qualified artisans to master the calibration of pressure, level, and temperature sensors, as well as the maintenance of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and SCADA systems. Successful completion of the program, including the final Trade Test, will result in a nationally recognized Section 13 Artisan Qualification.
Stipend: R8,500 β R12,500 per month (Research Estimate: Based on current mining sector learnership scales for Engineering trades in South Africa).
Requirements
You must meet one of the following three educational pathways:
Matric (Grade 12): Must include Mathematics (not Maths Literacy), Physical Science, and English, all with a minimum 40% pass.
N2 Certificate: Must have passed all four subjects, including:
Mathematics & Engineering Science.
Instrument Trade Theory or Industrial Instrumentation.
Industrial Electronics.
NCV Level 4: In the appropriate trade with all subjects passed at a minimum of 40%.
Additional Mandatory Documents:
Updated CV.
Certified copy of South African ID.
Certified copies of all relevant qualifications.
Proof of Residence: Candidates from host communities must provide a stamped document from a tribal office or municipality to receive first preference.
