Freedom Stationary (Pty) Ltd is seeking a highly motivated Junior Industrial Engineer to join our operations team. This role presents an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or an early-career professional to apply industrial engineering principles in a practical, fast-paced manufacturing and warehousing environment. As a Junior Industrial Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in optimising our warehouse management systems (WMS) and overall operational efficiency, contributing directly to the company's productivity and strategic goals.
This position is ideal for individuals with a strong analytical mindset, excellent problem-solving skills, and a keen interest in process improvement. You will be responsible for providing essential WMS and desktop support, maintaining critical master data, and ensuring the seamless functionality of various warehouse devices. Beyond support, you will delve into data analysis to identify trends, mitigate risks, and uncover opportunities for enhancement. Your work will involve assisting with process optimisation initiatives, developing standard operating procedures (SOPs), and implementing Lean methodologies to streamline workflows. This role offers comprehensive exposure to modern industrial engineering practices within a tangible operational setting, fostering both technical and professional growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide first-line WMS and desktop support to warehouse users, troubleshooting issues efficiently.
- Maintain WMS master data, locations, and ensure high inventory accuracy.
- Support the configuration and functionality of scanners, printers, and handheld devices used in the warehouse.
- Analyse WMS data to identify operational trends, potential risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Assist with process optimisation projects, SOP development, and Lean improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency.
- Develop and maintain operational Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and dashboards for performance monitoring.
- Create and maintain clear process maps and workflows using tools such as XMind and Microsoft Visio.
- Support digital process improvement initiatives leveraging Microsoft 365 tools and Power Apps.
- Train warehouse staff on WMS usage and adherence to standard operating procedures.
- Support compliance with health & safety regulations and ISO 9001:2015 requirements.

- Degree or National Diploma in Industrial Engineering (required).
- 0–2 years’ experience (internship or in-service training advantageous).
- Basic understanding of Lean / Six Sigma principles.
- Process mapping skills using tools such as XMind and Visio.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, with exposure to Power Apps considered an advantage.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills and the ability to train system users.
