The City of Johannesburg (CoJ) is offering valuable Internship opportunities for the 2026 intake, targeting suitably qualified and unemployed graduates. These internships are designed to provide practical experience and professional development over a period not exceeding eighteen (18) months. Interns will be integral to various departments, contributing to significant projects and gaining exposure to municipal operations. Key Responsibilities
Assist in performing developmental-level professional administrative and support services.
Conduct research and analysis to support departmental objectives.
Participate in the day-to-day operations, including general office administration, monitoring, and evaluation.
Contribute to the development of strategic plans, business plans, and reports.
Support the planning and implementation of departmental programs and projects.
Assist with data entry, filing, and mailings.
Support event planning, setup, and execution, including logistics and marketing.
Assist with marketing and promotional efforts, including social media and material development.
Provide excellent customer service, respond to queries, and resolve issues.
Gain skills in transport planning, development planning, and policy implementation.
Assist in the development and implementation of transport policies and regulations.
Prepare and review quantities for transport infrastructure programs.
Monitor invoices and manage project costs and performance.
Proactively manage foreseen project risks.

Requirements
Diploma or Degree (NQF level 6/7) in Business Management, Business Administration, Journalism, Media, Public Administration or Public Management (for Executive Director's Office).
Diploma / Degree in Civil Engineering / Town and Regional Planning / Transport Management (for Transport Systems Management).
B Degree in Quantity Surveying at NQF level 7 (for Quantity Surveyor).
Ability to work independently after receiving initial guidance.
Ability to handle confidential information in a sensitive manner.
Planning, organisational and prioritising skills.
Detail-oriented and a team player.
Analytical and research skills.
Flexibility and adaptability.
Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office Suite, including MS Excel.
Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal abilities.
Self-confidence, creativity, and numeracy skills.
Knowledge of basic Traffic Engineering Theory and Development Planning.
Knowledge of Technical Report writing.
Negotiation skills.
