This pivotal role, reporting to the Manager of Customer Operations Systems, is designed for a high-impact builder dedicated to significantly enhancing the efficiency and capabilities of our Customer Operations teams, including Support, Success, Onboarding, and Implementation. As an Internal Systems Engineer, you will be at the forefront of impact.com's AI transformation, translating cutting-edge artificial intelligence concepts into practical, scalable solutions that empower our internal teams and ultimately benefit our global clientele. This role is fundamentally practical and application-focused, requiring a deep understanding of both AI principles and robust software engineering practices. You will be instrumental in architecting, developing, and maintaining AI-powered tools and agents that streamline workflows, automate repetitive tasks, and provide intelligent assistance to our operations specialists. Your work will involve close collaboration with business stakeholders, guiding them through the possibilities of AI, helping define logical frameworks and prompts, and owning the end-to-end development lifecycle of agentic workflows and tools. Example projects could range from building an AI-powered QA and training tool with a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) component for new support agents, to designing sophisticated agentic workflows for our onboarding team, or developing FreshDesk integrations that intelligently suggest draft responses to customer tickets, significantly improving response times and quality.
Key Responsibilities
Building AI-powered tools and agents: Integrate applied AI into existing workflows using modern frameworks, consulting with business stakeholders to define logic and prompts, and owning the development and maintenance of agentic workflows and tools.
Building and maintaining a shared agent platform: Develop and maintain templates, approved patterns, and deployment infrastructure to enable various Customer Operations teams to build their own agents without needing to manage hosting, monitoring, or API connectivity.
Building robust internal software, integrations, and automations: Develop custom FreshDesk widgets and other internal applications, owning their full lifecycle from building and hosting to monitoring, maintaining, and eventual retirement.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify automation opportunities and implement scalable solutions.
Ensure the reliability, security, and performance of all developed internal systems and AI applications.
Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI, machine learning, and internal systems engineering to continuously improve impact.com's operational capabilities.

Requirements
Proven experience as a Systems Engineer, Software Engineer, or similar role, with a strong focus on applied AI.
Demonstrated ability to build AI-powered tools, agents, and workflows using modern frameworks.
