ICT Technician: County Fair (Astral)

Astral is seeking an ICT Technician to provide comprehensive technical support for its County Fair operations. You will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting the desktop, server, printer, and network infrastructure across two sites: Epping and Fisantekraal. This role is unique as it involves supporting both standard corporate IT environments and specialized "Shop Floor" equipment essential to a factory setting, such as PDA scanners, Marel scales, and Honeywell printers.

Key responsibilities include managing desktop applications (MS Office 2019, Adobe), ensuring the stability of wireless communication and security protocols, and swiftly resolving technical queries to minimize production downtime. The successful candidate must be highly service-oriented, capable of working under pressure, and willing to participate in a standby rotation every fortnight to handle after-hours emergencies.

Job Type: Full-time (Include bi-weekly standby)

Salary: R18,500 – R26,000 per month (Research Estimate: Based on industry standards for mid-level ICT Technicians in the South African manufacturing and FMCG sectors).

• Education: Minimum Grade 12 (Matric). A+ and N+ certifications are highly beneficial.

• Experience: At least 3 years of experience in an IT support environment.

• Technical Proficiency: * Advanced knowledge of Windows 11 and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Proven experience supporting desktop, server, and network hardware.

  • Hands-on experience with industrial hardware (PDA scanners, scales, and label printers) is a major advantage.

• Security: Basic understanding of wireless communication and security protocols.

• Licensing: A valid Code 8/EB driver’s license and reliable personal transport are mandatory (for travel between Epping and Fisantekraal).

• Attributes: Strong problem-solving skills, the ability to follow the "20 Keys" concept, and a proactive, service-orientated attitude.

• Flexibility: Must be available for standby duty every fortnight.
