Job Description
Rand Water, Africa’s largest bulk water utility, is inviting unemployed South African youth to apply for their Horticulture Learnership Programme for 2026. This NQF Level 2 accredited programme is designed to equip learners with practical and theoretical skills in plant production, landscaping, and environmental sustainability.
Based at the Rietvlei site in Glenvista, this learnership is a strategic entry point for those passionate about the "green economy." You will gain hands-on experience in maintaining horticultural sites while working toward a nationally recognized qualification.
What You Will Learn & Do
Site Maintenance: Assist in the daily operation and maintenance of horticultural and plant production areas.
Plant Care: Monitor plant growth, health, and participate in propagation, watering, and fertilization.
Technical Skills: Conduct soil preparation, planting, and maintain irrigation systems and tools.
Theoretical Training: Attend formal classes, participate in group discussions, and complete practical logbooks and assessments.
Requirements
To qualify for this programme, you must meet the following strict criteria:
Education: Matric (Grade 12) with Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy AND Life Science (Minimum Level 3 in all subjects).
Age: Between 18 and 35 years old.
Citizenship: South African citizen with a valid ID.
Current Status: * Must be currently unemployed.
Must not hold any post-Matric qualification (Certificates, Diplomas, or Degrees).
Must not be currently enrolled at any academic institution or in another learnership.
Mandatory Document: You must provide a SAQA/NLRD Verification Report (Extract from the National Learners’ Records Database).
