Gibela Rail Transport Consortium β Africa's largest train manufacturing and passenger trains maintenance company and a strategic part of global rail giant Alstom β is inviting suitably qualified South African graduates to apply for its 24-Month EHS Officer Graduate Programme, based at their Salt River facility in Cape Town, Western Cape.

As an EHS Graduate, you will be placed under the guidance of the EHS Manager at the Salt River site β gaining hands-on, practical experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety management within a dynamic, world-class rail manufacturing and maintenance environment. You will support compliance activities, co-ordinate health and safety operations, and develop the professional skills needed to build a long-term career as a qualified EHS Officer in the transport and manufacturing sector.

Key Responsibilities
Support the EHS Lead in managing all health, safety, and environment activities at site level
Proactively coordinate business health, safety, and environmental compliance activities
Assist in ensuring that all maintenance activities meet and exceed regulatory, contractual, and Gibela company obligations
Conduct workplace inspections, site walkthroughs, and risk assessments under supervision
Assist with the preparation of EHS reports, documentation, and compliance records
Support the investigation and reporting of incidents, near misses, and non-conformances
Promote and reinforce a positive safety culture across all site operations
Participate in EHS training sessions, toolbox talks, and safety awareness initiatives
Requirements
National Diploma or BTech in Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field
No prior work experience required (first-time entrants encouraged)
South African citizen between the ages of 18 and 35 years
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
