Job Description:
Midvaal Local Municipality is inviting applications for a Financial Management Internship based in Meyerton, Gauteng. This opportunity is designed for graduates who want practical exposure in municipal finance and public sector financial administration.

The successful candidate will gain structured workplace experience in budgeting, financial reporting, revenue management, expenditure control, and supply chain processes within a municipal environment. The internship aims to develop strong competencies in public finance management, compliance with the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA), and internal financial controls.

Interns will support the finance department with daily financial operations, assist with reconciliations, prepare financial documentation, and contribute to audit preparation processes. This programme is ideal for graduates seeking hands-on experience in local government financial systems and governance structures.

• National Diploma or Degree in Financial Management, Accounting, Cost and Management Accounting, Public Finance, or a related qualification

• Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and financial reporting

• Computer literacy, especially in MS Excel and other financial software tools

• Good analytical and numerical skills

• Strong attention to detail and ability to work within deadlines

• Good communication and interpersonal skills

• South African citizen
