Dispensary Support Learnership at Dis-Chem Pharmacies
Job Description
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking motivated individuals to join their team as Dispensary Support Learners. This learnership program is designed to equip successful candidates with the necessary skills and knowledge to complete the Basic Pharmacist Assistant course. Participants will gain hands-on experience in a dynamic pharmaceutical environment, focusing on quality learning and practical application. Upon successful completion and registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC), permanent employment opportunities may be offered.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with the sale of Schedule 1 medicines and scheduled substances.
Support the compounding, manipulation, and preparation of non-sterile medicines under pharmacist supervision.
Aid in the unpacking, merchandising, and cleaning of dispensary and OTC shelves.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Dispensary Manager.
Learn to accurately interpret prescriptions and adhere to legal requirements set by the SAPC.
Ensure accurate picking, packing, and labelling of medication, with awareness of common dosages and drug interactions.
Verify that all medications are checked and signed by a pharmacist.
Assist in stock control, including managing shelf cleanliness, organization, and expiry dates for Schedule 1 to Schedule 5 medicines.
Follow up with patients on script tracking reports and appointments as requested.
Handle call centre scripts and patient service telephone calls.
Provide health information to individuals to promote wellness.
Assist with scheme authorization for chronic, HIV/AIDS, and oncology medication.
Report stock discrepancies, low stock levels, and errors to the dispensary manager.
Receive dispensary stock in accordance with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
