Job Description
The Department of Home Affairs is seeking organized individuals to provide administrative support within the Standing Committee for Refugee Affairs (SCRA) and the Refugee Appeals Authority of South Africa (RAASA). These units handle the legal complexities of asylum and refugee status in South Africa.
As an Administration Clerk, your duties include managing high volumes of legal and identity documentation, scheduling hearings or committee meetings, and maintaining a rigorous filing system for refugee cases. You will be responsible for data entry into the National Population Register and specific refugee databases, ensuring that all records are updated accurately to reflect the status of applicants. The role requires a high degree of confidentiality and the ability to track case files through various stages of the legal appeal process. You will also provide general office support, including handling telephonic inquiries and coordinating with legal and protection officers.
Salary: R16,500 – R19,800 per month (Research Estimate: Based on the Public Service DPSA Salary Scale for Administrative Clerk Level 5).

Requirements
Education: A Grade 12 Certificate (Matric) or a relevant NQF Level 4 qualification.
Technical Skills: * Basic computer literacy (MS Office).
Proficient typing skills for record-keeping and data capturing.
Experience: Previous administrative or clerical experience in a fast-paced environment is an added advantage.
Attributes: * Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work with sensitive and confidential information.
Good interpersonal and communication skills (English and one other official language).
Vetting: Must have a clean criminal record and be willing to undergo security clearance.
