Job Description
The Hyundai Apprenticeship is a rigorous technical training program designed to develop the next generation of master technicians. As a 1st-year apprentice, you will be based in a world-class workshop environment, assisting qualified technicians while learning the fundamentals of vehicle maintenance and repair.
Key responsibilities include learning to remove and replace cylinder heads, servicing and repairing engine blocks, and diagnosing fuel system components. You will gain a deep understanding of basic electronics, ignition systems, and braking systems. The program is specifically structured to move you from basic tasks to complex diagnostics, ultimately preparing you for your National Trade Test.
Closing Date: 17 March 2026 (Rolling basis – positions may close earlier if filled)
Job Type: 3-4 Year Apprenticeship (Leading to Trade Test/Red Seal)
Stipend: R6,500 – R8,500 per month (Research Estimate: Based on current automotive sector scales for Level 1 apprentices in the Western Cape).
Requirements
To be eligible for this Level 1 intake, you must meet the following criteria:
Education: Grade 12 (Matric) with Mathematics and Physical Science (Mathematical Literacy is generally not accepted for this technical trade).
Tertiary (Advantageous): An N1–N4 certificate or an accredited tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering/Automotive Motor Mechanics will be highly beneficial.
Skills: A strong mechanical aptitude and a genuine passion for the motor industry.
Attributes: High level of accuracy, ability to work under pressure, and a commitment to completing the full duration of the apprenticeship.
Licensing: A valid South African Driver’s License is often a mandatory requirement for moving vehicles within the workshop.
