R7,000 – R10,000 per month
Why this estimate?
MEIBC Rates: Lift Mechanics fall under the Metal and Engineering Industries Bargaining Council. Apprentice wages are usually calculated as a percentage of a qualified artisan's rate (starting at around 35-40% for 1st years).
Global Company: KONE is a major international company. They often pay slightly above the minimum set by the bargaining council to attract good talent.
Progression: This amount usually increases every year as you complete your N-levels and practical modules (e.g., Year 2 and Year 3 apprentices earn more).
Note: As an apprentice, your "salary" is technically a training stipend. The real financial value comes after you pass your Trade Test and become a Qualified Lift Mechanic, where salaries can jump to R25,000 – R40,000+.
