Available Graduate Streams
🔷 Stream 1: CIB Transaction Banking Graduate Programme
Work within Standard Bank's Transaction Banking division — supporting clients across cash management, trade finance, investor services, and digital banking platforms. Gain exposure to how large corporates, public institutions, and financial institutions manage their transactional banking needs across Africa.
Qualifying Degrees: Postgraduate qualification (completing or completed 2026) in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Science, Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, or Information Systems.
🔷 Stream 2: CIB Quantitative Graduate Programme
Join Standard Bank's quantitative research and analytics team. You'll work on financial modelling, derivative pricing, risk analytics, and algorithmic solutions supporting Global Markets and Investment Banking. Ideal for candidates who live and breathe mathematics and its application to finance.
Qualifying Degrees: Postgraduate degree (completing or completed 2026) preferably in Actuarial Science, Mathematical Finance, Business Mathematics and Informatics, or BCom/BSc Honours. Alternatively an MSc or MEng in Physics, Pure/Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or Engineering with limited finance background will also be considered.
🔷 Stream 3: CIB Risk Management Graduate Programme
At the forefront of shaping the future of Risk Management. You'll rotate across Market Risk, Corporate Credit Risk, Non-Financial Risk, Real Estate Finance Credit Risk, Financial Institutions Credit Risk, ESG Risk, Country & Sovereign Risk, Data Management, and Risk Assurance.
Qualifying Degrees: Postgraduate qualification (completing or completed 2026) in Mathematics and Statistics, Actuarial Science, Financial Mathematics, Financial Risk Management, BCom Hons (Finance/Economics/Risk/Accounting), BSc Hons (Environmental Science), or PPE.
🔷 Stream 4: CIB Investment Banking Graduate Programme
Investment Banking sits at the core of the CIB franchise — the most established investment banking platform on the continent. Gain exposure to mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, project finance, advisory mandates, and structured transactions across Africa and globally.
Qualifying Degrees: Postgraduate or 4-year degree (completing or completed 2026) in Engineering, Accounting, Risk Management, Business Sciences, Financial Sciences, Economics, or Mathematics/Statistics.
🔷 Stream 5: CIB Global Markets Graduate Programme
An innovative player on the global stage. Gain in-depth exposure to Trading, Sales, Structuring, and Risk Management Solutions across FX, Commodities, Fixed Income, Equities, and Rates. Rotate through the full scope of the business before choosing your area of specialisation.
Qualifying Degrees: Postgraduate qualification (completing or completed 2026) in Actuarial Science, Applied Mathematics, Applied Sciences, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Financial Mathematics, Mathematics and Statistics, or Quantitative Risk Management.
🔷 Stream 6: CIB Technology Graduate Programme
CIB Technology is the backbone of Global Markets, Transaction Banking, and Investment Banking — powering multi-million-rand transactions from algorithmic trading to complex structured products. Work with JAVA, Python, Angular, GO, C, C#, C++, Murex, Calypso, Docker, Kubernetes, SQL, AWS, and Microsoft enterprise tools.
Qualifying Degrees: Postgraduate qualification (completing or completed 2026) in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Electronic Engineering, Mathematics / Applied Mathematics / Financial Mathematics, Statistics, Informatics / Information Systems, Software Development, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or Data Science.
🔷 Stream 7: CIB Finance Graduate Programme
Gain exposure to financial controlling, business partnering, management reporting, and strategic finance functions within CIB — supporting the financial performance management of one of Africa's largest investment banking franchises.
Qualifying Degrees: Minimum postgraduate degree (completing or completed 2026). Diverse degrees considered except Auditing. Financial acumen is key and will be assessed rigorously during the online application process.
🔷 Stream 8: PPB Credit Operations Graduate Programme
Support the machinery that keeps Personal & Private Banking running — working in operations, credit processing, and risk management within Standard Bank's retail and private banking divisions.
Qualifying Degrees: Honours degree or Postgraduate Diploma (preceded by a relevant degree) in Operations Management, Business Operations, Credit Management, Banking, Financial Services Operations, Risk Management, Operational Risk, or Industrial Engineering. Accounting, Law, or Economics accepted only if accompanied by relevant Honours/Postgraduate Diploma.
🔷 Stream 9: PPB Data Science Graduate Programme
Be at the centre of data-driven innovation within Personal & Private Banking — building predictive models, analytics platforms, and machine learning solutions that improve client outcomes and banking decision-making.
Qualifying Degrees: Currently enrolled in or completed an Honours or Master's degree in Data Science/Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or Quantitative Risk Management.
🔷 Stream 10: PPB Risk Graduate Programme
Drive analytics-led risk management within Personal & Private Banking — specialising in credit decisioning, fraud analytics, behavioural economics, and operational risk across Standard Bank's retail client base.
Qualifying Degrees: Masters or Honours in BSc/BCom/BDatSci in Statistics, Data Science, Pure Mathematics, Computational and Applied Mathematics, Informatics/Information Systems, Computer Science, Econometrics, or Behavioural Economics (with interest in applied banking analytics, credit decisioning, or fraud behaviour).
