IT Helpdesk Intern at CapeNature
Job Description
CapeNature is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic IT Helpdesk Technician Intern to join their productive team in Cape Town, Western Cape. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive, detail-oriented problem solver looking to gain valuable experience in an IT support role. The ideal candidate will be technically hands-on, comfortable working independently, and able to manage tasks with a sense of urgency. You will take ownership of issues, communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical users, and strive to improve the end-user experience. This 18-month contract position offers a chance to contribute to the smooth operation of CapeNature's IT infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Provide end-user support and service desk support, ensuring 90% of all open calls are converted and resolved within the specified Service Level Agreements.
Maintain up-to-date records of all sites with the current infrastructure.
Coordinate with internal business departments and IT teams for device setup, user account creation, and orientation support.
Deactivate and secure user accounts and access credentials in line with security policies.
Ensure all authorised users have access to required network resources.
Perform hardware and software maintenance, including preparing and configuring laptops, desktops, mobile devices, and accessories.
Install operating systems, security tools, and corporate applications according to Entity policy and standards.
Retrieve, wipe, and reimage devices to maintain data integrity and compliance.
Support the IT team in developing and implementing automations for IT processes.
Collaborate with Software and Network teams on IT infrastructure needs.
Respond to and resolve hardware/software incidents and service requests via the ticketing system.
Assist with conference room equipment, VPN connectivity, and peripheral troubleshooting.
Adhere to prescribed ICT governance procedures and processes.
Apply security patches and perform regular system updates.
Perform regular audits of employee devices and ensure relevant policies and procedures, including information security and data retention policies, are followed.
Maintain accurate records of all ICT Assets assigned to clients, documenting asset returns and updating inventory records.
Maintain up-to-date IT Asset documentation and accurate inventory of IT assets and software licenses.

Requirements
NQF 5 in either Information Systems, IT Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in an IT Desktop support environment.
Proficiency with Windows and common enterprise applications (e.g., Microsoft 365).
Familiarity with endpoint management tools (e.g. Intune etc.).
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience supporting remote/hybrid teams.
Code 8 driver’s license.
No Criminal record.
