Key Responsibilities
Gain comprehensive exposure to CSIR's financial policies, internal controls, and governance frameworks.
Accurately capture projects and contracts in PeopleSoft, ensuring all required supporting documentation is complete and compliant with CSIR policies.
Generate customer invoices based on approved requests and assist with managing debtor accounts, including following up on outstanding payments and obtaining necessary approvals for credit notes.
Support the preparation of crucial financial reports, such as timesheet and expenditure reports for projects, and assist with journal entries and bad debt provisions.
Provide dedicated financial administrative support to line staff and management accountants, facilitating smooth financial operations.
Process various financial transactions, including revenue recognition updates, contract status maintenance, and amendments, under supervision to ensure accuracy and compliance with policies, guidelines, and legislation.
Perform financial account reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies, ensuring all transactions are recorded in the correct accounting period.
Maintain organised records of financial documents, such as journals and invoices, for efficient retrieval during queries and audits.
Follow up on the status of open orders to ensure accuracy for financial reporting and year-end accruals.
Assist with critical month-end and year-end closing processes to help the finance department meet deadlines.
Undertake ad-hoc finance-related tasks as assigned and actively identify opportunities for improving existing business processes within the finance function.

Requirements
A three-year Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance;
Ability to implement basic accounting principles and knowledge of relevant statutory requirements.
Basic knowledge of VAT principles, Microsoft Office Suite and email;
