Job Description
The Export Credit Insurance Corporation of South Africa (ECIC), a South African state-owned entity providing export credit and investment insurance to South African exporters and investors doing business in foreign markets β is offering its Graduate Trainee Programme 2026 across two specialist streams: Business Development and Actuarial.
ECIC plays a critical role in South Africa's trade and economic development landscape, supporting large-scale infrastructure, energy, mining, and industrial export transactions across Africa and emerging markets globally. Its mandate is to facilitate South African exports and investments in markets where conventional financing and insurance may not be readily available.
The overarching objective of the programme is to bridge the transition from higher education to professional practice β helping graduates become well-rounded, commercially capable young professionals with the skills, knowledge, and exposure needed to build meaningful long-term careers in financial services, insurance, and export credit.
Available Streams
π· Stream 1: Graduate Trainee β Business Development
Gain exposure to ECIC's core business functions including client origination, deal structuring, credit analysis, export finance, and relationship management with exporters, financial institutions, and government stakeholders across South Africa and the continent.
Qualifying Degrees: University degree preferably in Accounting, Commerce, Law, Mathematics, Economics, or Engineering (other disciplines will be considered)
π· Stream 2: Graduate Trainee β Actuarial
Join ECIC's actuarial and risk function, gaining exposure to export credit risk modelling, pricing, reserving, portfolio analysis, and regulatory compliance β while actively pursuing your actuarial board examinations alongside professional workplace experience.
Qualifying Degrees: Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Mathematical Statistics, or a closely related quantitative discipline. Candidates must be actively pursuing actuarial board examinations.
